The Weekend Edition #72

March 25, 2018

Happy Sunday! Have you remembered to put your clocks forward this weekend? 🙂 You lose an hour when the clocks go forward but as a parent you don’t even notice now. Oh well!

This week has been very up and down; I did a photoshoot on Thursday with Mr FC and the boys for an article in the Sunday Times which is out today! Obviously this was very exciting and I’m so pleased to be in another national newspaper. I keep saying that I need to start a scrap book so I can keep all of these in one place.

But on the same day, our car broke. As I was reversing off our drive, there was a big bang. I honestly thought the exhaust had fallen off! I got out and looked under the car and nothing. I had both boys with me in the car so it was a bit nerve wracking driving it, especially with the accompanying loud rattle. I rang the garage we take the car to and they could fit us on Friday morning. Turns out that it was the suspension at the back – a spring had snapped off and needed to be replaced. Thankfully it only cost us £61! Phew.

Also, I’m running an offer on my course Reduce Your Food Spend – it’s currently 50% off! If you go to the checkout and enter ‘HALFOFFAPR’ then it’ll reduce it to £7.50 for the course 🙂 have a look and enroll to start saving money!

5 things I’ve enjoyed/been grateful for this week:

1) Spending some time with my parents 🙂

2) Frugal Baby is starting to gurgle and giggle which is lovely.

3) Being able to be involved with more interviews – the Sunday Times!

4) Having a catch up with a mummy friend 🙂

5) Our family; we would be lost without them.

3 blog posts I’ve enjoyed reading this week:

1) What FIRE Bloggers Owe Readers by Our Next Life. I loved this post – more transparency is definitely needed, I think.

2) Sticking To A Grocery Budget by Super Savvy Vegan. I’m included in this helpful roundup. Lots of tips!

3) Confessions of an early retiree: I don’t envy retirement by Think Save Retire. An interesting perspective to read about.

And, in case you’ve missed them, these are the topics I’ve posted about this week:

– 8 Free Things To Do At The Weekend

What have you enjoyed reading this week? Any plans for the week ahead? I’d love to hear about it!

I really enjoyed Our Next Life’s post on what FIRE bloggers owe readers. It took me ages to read through all the comments!

Interestingly both ThinkSaveRetire and Financial Samurai posted a day or two later on stuff that would seem to be connected/refuting their roles somewhat. Although Tanja specifically said it wasn’t in response to their other posts.

There’s also been a bit of internet discussion around the new Frugalwoods book and marketing campaign, the Guardian article didn’t do Liz any favours as it seemed to cut out so much of what she is about.

Congrats on being in the Sunday Times, that’s really great and hopefully should get you more exposure! Do you have a link as we don’t get papers delivered – being frugal!
