What’s On Your Bucket List?

April 19, 2017

I have been thinking lately of bucket lists. The thought behind them, what they actually mean and how it can help you focus. How having something written down means you are more much likely to achieve it. To get to experience it, live through it, accomplish it. I suppose it’s a bit like having dreams, but with more focus.

The first thing I thought of was where in the world would I love to visit. I have written before about how having experiences and memories is so important to me. There are so many amazing places around the world that I would love to travel to. To get to experience different cultures and lifestyles. So, on my list for travel there would be:

  • Santorini
  • Disneyland, Florida
  • Amsterdam
  • Barbados
  • Rome
  • Venice
  • Norway

In terms of items to own, I struggled slightly more with this. In line with my post about starting a capsule wardrobe, there was nothing that immediately jumped out at me. After a bit more thought, I came up with the following items, which are a mix of clothes and other household items:

  • a cashmere jumper from The White Company
  • A Mulberry handbag
  • A really good coffee machine
  • A KitchenAid mixer

And that’s it! I really, really struggled. You also might be surprised to see such expensive things on there. Remember, this is a bucket list! So, not necessarily what I might end up with. In my former life, I was obsessed with designer bags. During my school years and throughout university I loved designer bags. Specifically Mulberry and Chanel. However, as we all know, they are so expensive. However, I would love to have a classic, leather, Mulberry handbag one day. I tend to use handbags until they fall apart, so at least I know it would get good use! [Even better if it was a gift from someone else…]

I then thought about more business like goals. I am reading a great book at the moment about business goals, and it’s definitely inspiring me! Things relating to The Frugal Cottage, I suppose. After thinking about this, I came up with:

  • Earn £500 in dividend income
  • Earn £1,000 in dividend income
  • Earn at least £300 a month in dividend income [how amazing would this be?!]
  • Launch Frugal Cottage Coaching [more on this next week]
  • Grow online income to £5,000 a month [dreaming big!]
  • Appear on the BBC
  • Publish a book

A lot of these things are goals of mine anyway, but there’s no reason for them not to appear on a bucket list! Again, some of these seem unattainable, so we shall see. It would be amazing to be able to cross them off one day.

At the end of the day, I suppose all a bucket list actually is, is a list of dreams. Things you want to see, experience, accomplish. Living on a budget, these things might take time. In fact, I might not manage to tick off everything you see. However, it’s all about giving yourself the chance! Who knows what is just around the corner?

Do you have a bucket list? What are three of the things on there? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

I’ve always wanted a mulberry handbag! I could afford one but don’t want to spend all that money on a handbag at the moment, I’d rather put it towards paying off our mortgage and credit cards. One day maybe…

Have you ever done the 2 for 1 ferry trips from Hull? They do them to Bruges and Amsterdam. It’s a great frugal trip to make. I’ve done both but definitely prefer Bruges. In fact I could live there ? I’m going to have a think about my bucket list and create a Pinterest board for it x

Yep I have a bucket list – I’ve ticked-off about half the things on it so far. 3 things still to do: the Great North Run, seeing a mountain stage on the Tour de France, Last Night of the Proms at the Albert Hall!

I really don’t know what I want to do specifically, but I am way better at recognizing awesome opportunities when they come, which is why I prefer the Fill-the-bucket list: http://northernexpenditure.com/the-fill-the-bucket-list/
And I can’t wait to see you on the BBC. 🙂
