The Weekend Edition #73

June 24, 2018

Happy Sunday! Are you having a nice, relaxing weekend?

This week has been quite quiet until Friday. Just the usual routine, though Mr FC has been on holiday which is nice. We get to spend more time as a family that way. We haven’t done that much; just plodded along nicely.

On Thursday though, I got an exciting delivery! Well, kind of. I have got the pleasure of having a new Vauxhall Crossland X to review this week, as a new family car. It arrived on Thursday morning so I’ll be testing it out during the week this coming week. Look out for my review of that soon!

Also, we’re away with my parents this week too. We have come to the Lake District and hired a self-catering cottage. I’m looking forward to getting out in the fresh air and enjoying the scenery. Have you been to the Lakes before? It’s such a beautiful place and we have a view of a lake from our bedroom window. It’s also supposed to be good weather this week, here’s hoping!

5 things I’ve enjoyed/been grateful for this week:

1) Spending some time with my parents 🙂

2) Frugal Baby is sitting up now and trying to grab everything; I love watching him progress.

3) A mint slice with a cuppa – perfect pick me up.

4) I’ve just started reading a new book – Friend Request – and it’s good so far!

5) Hinterland in Netflix; a police detective drama which I am enjoying.

3 blog posts I’ve enjoyed reading this week:

1) Five Tried & Tested Ways To Make A Full-Time Income Online by Ruth Makes Money. I am loving Ruth’s posts lately about making money online and she is doing so well with it!

2) Money Diaries: June 11th-17th by Formerly Skint. I love seeing what other people spend!

3) We Lived On Less Than $300 This Month by Frugal Gene. I can’t imagine managing to spend this little throughout a month, so this was an interesting read.

And, in case you’ve missed them, these are the topics I’ve posted about this week:

– How To Survive On Maternity Pay

What have you enjoyed reading this week? Any plans for the week ahead? I’d love to hear about it!

Not too much on the schedule for this week except for Tuesday which will be very busy! Since I have my book club in the afternoon, followed by my volunteer group in the evening (my church runs an English as a Second language) evening and we get about 50 people each week – I’ve decided that I might as well buy a daily transit pass and spend the morning doing some grocery shopping and then make a trip to the library. May also stop off to pick up a baby gift for a new arrival so I will more than get my money’s worth with the pass.
Otherwise this will be a week to get myself motivated to look for some more part-time work, get a couple of jobs completed in the apt. and take care of some paperwork that has been hanging around for much too long!
I am going to check out some of those blogs you’ve recommended so thank you for that.
I visited the Lake District many years ago and it was lovely – it reminded two Canadians of home (up in what we call cottage country). Enjoy before you have to return to work.

Thanks for the mention 🙂 I was surprised at our spending too haha. Usually we live on 2-3x that.
