September Aims

September 1, 2020

Hello September! I can’t believe we are into September. It has been the strangest year. What that means though is that things go back to normal here. I am back at work, as of today. A is back to school on Thursday and C starts nursery next week. All things are changing. I have felt a bit sad about the shift back to what it used to be like; I am dreading the rushing around on a morning to get out of the door by 7:15am again. And little things, like playing with the lego and creating stories, watching films and just spending time together. I know it’ll be nice to get back to a routine, but still.

But, with the change in lifestyle comes a change in budget! I have made the decision to go back to cash envelopes for September – you can see my video about that here. Plus, some things are changing in our budget because of the changes. I will spent much more on petrol again and our childcare expenses are going up for £350. That will have an impact on our overall budget but I am still hoping to achieve the same goals. Somehow! You can see my September 2020 Monthly Budget here.

Finally, before I get to my aims for the month ahead, I am still loving my YouTube channel. It is growing slowly and my message is getting out there. I just want to help people grow their confidence when it comes to their finances. It feels like it might be working! Again, I have lots of videos planned for the month ahead that I need to film and edit. Make sure you go over there and subscribe so you don’t miss them! One of my aims is to hit 2,500 subscribers so it would be great if you could help out.

My Financial aims for September are:

– Have 20 No Spend Days (NSDs)

– Overpay the mortgage by £185

– Put £700 into savings

Same as always; these should be easy to meet providing I don’t spend too much going out. In some ways, being back at work might make this easier as well. We shall see!  I mentioned briefly in a video last week about how I need to up our emergency fund. Any spare cash I have at the moment, aside from money for our long term goals, shall be put into our emergency fund. Slow and steady wins the race.

My Personal Aims for September are:

– get back into the early nights routine

– eat more fruit and veg!

Now that things are returning to normal, I need to make sure I am doing my best to get some actual rest. This means going to bed slightly earlier and relaxing on an evening to make sure I can actually get to sleep. My GAD means that sleep can often be a tricky thing to come by; so I need to do things to help me in this area. And finally, I should be eating more fruit and veg! Slipped into bad habits as of late.

Here’s to September being great! What are your aims for the month? I’d love to hear them!
