May Aims

May 1, 2015

Hello May! As the days continue to get longer and warmer, time seems to go even faster and the year begins to slip away. We don’t have many plans for May; we have a couple of meetings with friends organised, but that’s about it. Again, it is another month where both my and my husband are at work for the majority of the time, so it’s all about making the most of our weekends.

Every month I like to set myself aims for the month, to keep myself focused and to make sure I actually use the time during the month wisely! There are two sets of aims: Finance and Personal. April was a bit hit and miss for aims, mainly down to one large expense, so I’m hoping that May will get us back on track with our aims.

Financial aims for May:

– Have 23 No Spend Days (or NSDs)

– Overpay our mortgage by £120

– Put £700 into savings

I met my NSD aim for March and for April, so I’m upping my game and raising the target. Watch me fail miserably now I’ve done that! With some careful planning, this should be achievable. Again, our new, reduced overpayment factors into our financial aims for this month. . Finally, as we didn’t reach our savings target for April due to buying a new car, I have kept the number the same for May and I’m going to try my hardest to meet this, if not try to get higher than this. I think that May will have to be a month where we only spend what we actually need to, and no more – a fiscal fast of sorts.

Personal Aims for May:

– try out a new recipe

– eat healthily

– get a new carpet for the spare room

We seem to have got into a bit of a rut with our eating lately, and I am starting to get bored of our everyday rotation of meals. I’ve got so many recipes bookmarked so I’m going to make myself try out a new, probably straightforward, recipe. Rather than say diet, or lose so many lbs, I’m just going to focus on eating healthily, everything in moderation so to speak. Getting a new carpet was an aim for April but we didn’t get round to this, so this will need to get sorted in May, though it may be towards the end of the month.

Do you have any aims for this month? What will challenge you the most? I’d love to hear from you!

Good luck – I find healthy eating a challenge so try to plan every day so I know what I’m eating for the day 🙂
