March Aims

March 1, 2018

Hello March! I’m so glad it’s a new month, and to wave goodbye to February. I have just been feeling a bit off in terms of finances, and everything really. Both boys and I have been poorly the past week which probably hasn’t helped. I’m hoping March brings a new positivity and a reign back in terms of spending. I am going to attempt a No Spend Month again; I need to!

March is a quiet month for us, so far. It’s our wedding anniversary at the end of the month which we’ll do something for, but apart from that not a lot seems to be on the agenda. That’s a good thing for our finances. I also desperately need to get back to doing our budget spreadsheet as that also keeps me on track. I just don’t seem to have the energy or motivation to do so but that also needs to change.

Financial aims for March:

– Have 18 No Spend Days (NSDs)

– Overpay our mortgage by £85

– Put £600 into savings

NSDs seem to be very elusive at the moment. I didn’t manage this aim in January or February, but I’m hoping with my renewed focus I will be able to meet this.  Continuing with plodding along with mortgage payments, though I am aiming for a slightly bigger number this year overall. I am focusing on building my investments and dividend income, but I still want to keep the overpayments going as they’re important. The savings aim is the same as last month; it is lower because we’re now on a reduced income whilst I’m on maternity leave.

Personal Aims For March:

– lose 4lbs

– finish reading The No Spend Year

– don’t eat any chocolate or crisps

I have managed to lose 9lbs so far in 2018, so I want to continue that downwards trend! This means just a pound a week weight loss which would be good and should be manageable, I hope. I have just started reading The No Spend Year after Mr FC treated me to it. I’m really enjoying it so far! And finally, and this should help with my weight loss, I have got into a bad habit of having crisps and chocolate everyday. I need to get out of this! So, to break the cycle I’m going to give them up for March. Wish me luck – I feel like I might find this very hard.

What are your aims for the month? I’d love to hear them!

Try to do you best, if is 17 days or 19 days of not spending, is great! Same for weight loose (I want to loose too 10 pound, but the belgium chocolate is so great … 😀 )
