Life Update #22

February 15, 2019

Happy Friday! How has your week been? It feels like this week has gone by so slowly, though I’m not sure why. I think it’s because I’ve been waiting for the weekend, as I’m on holiday next week 🙂 I’m going across to see my parents during it, which the boys will love. And hopefully we’ll have some nice days out! Fingers crossed the weather will be ok.

Last time I posted a Life Update in November (which seems aaaages ago!) Frugal Baby was 11 months old and just cruising around the furniture. He’s now 14 months old and can do five or six steps by himself 🙂 he’s very wobbly and not very confident about walking by himself but I’m sure that it won’t be long before he’s chasing Frugal Toddler everywhere and getting into more mischief.

Talking of Frugal Toddler (who is now definitely not a toddler, but not sure what to call him on here?), we applied for his primary school place over the Christmas holidays. How is my baby already old enough for that?! He’ll be going to primary school in September. We’re waiting to hear back to see if we get our first choice – please keep your fingers crossed. If we don’t, getting him there and back to our second choice will be very tricky.

In other news, I have finally launched The Frugal Cottage shop! It had been on my to do list for ages, and over on Instagram people kept asking where they could download my budget planner sheets, so I eventually got round to it. Now that it’s all up and running, I’m not sure what I put it off for so long? I’ve got lots of plans for this, so definitely keep an eye there. Mainly digital products for now, but I’ve been talking to someone about potentially starting a coaching programme for a small group of people. Another idea, but something else to mull over.

I am also loving Instagram at the moment! If you don’t follow me over there, then have a look. I post mainly about budgeting and money saving, plus show my NSD tracker and spending. Although my followers are growing slowly, it seems like a lot of people take the time to either like a photo or comment. Much more so than over on Twitter, which I really struggle to get the sense of community on.

Lastly, I am thinking about starting a YouTube channel….! Something where I can show my budgeting process, plus budget with me videos and other money saving hints and tips. The only thing about that at the moment is I wouldn’t want to film me talking, so to speak? I don’t want to have me in the video too much, as I don’t feel confident enough to do that. Maybe once I’m a bit more used to the idea, maybe. But yes, another idea in the pipeline! Need to order a tripod actually, that’s just reminded me.

What about you? What exciting things have happened to you lately?

Well you are certainly a busy one! And so many new projects – I am very envious.
I do enjoy some Youtube programs on frugality – the one tiny bit of advice I’ll offer is this – get to the point of the video please. 🙂 I find a lot of folks have some great things to say but it seems to take them half the time to get there. A chat is lovely – but still, try to stick to the subject as part of that chat.
I understand about being nervous about just “talking” but that’s what makes it personal. Perhaps a bit of a tour depending upon the topic – i.e.. certain rooms of your home. your pantry or garden, something in your neighbourhood that would be of interest and tie in to your topic?
    Good luck with it!
