Life Update #11

April 26, 2017

I haven’t done a Life Update since the start of January, so I thought I would do another and update you on things here at Frugal Cottage HQ.

I’ll be completely honest, I feel a bit despondent about things lately. It feels like there are not enough hours in the day and I am trying to juggle lots of things. There are so many different things I want to do here at The Frugal Cottage; I have so many ideas. However, it all comes back to having enough time to effectively implement what I want to.

I am also feeling the fear at the moment. My coaching e-course is nearly ready to go live. Yet, I keep giving myself excuses as to why I shouldn’t go ahead with it, quite yet. I suppose, at the end of the day, I am worried it will fail. Worrying about if what I have written and created will be up to a standard that I think is good enough. But, how do you even know that until you try?

I have been reading a lot online about taking that leap of faith and how great things can come from taking that initial step. In fact, as I type that, it does seem very straight forward. Perhaps I need a bit of a pep talk from someone!

Continuing with the blogging theme, I am working my way through these two books at the moment:

  1. Blogging Your Way To Riches
  2. She Means Business

Both are very interesting reads (the first being written by two of the UK money bloggers, both of whom I’ve met and are lovely!) and are giving me lots of ideas and things to think about. My to do list is growing longer and longer!

Also, I am thinking about doing another no spend month challenge in May. We have spent quite a lot during April, though these were planned spends. We have decorated our bedroom (finally!) and we have been away for a week. We also need to order a new wardrobe and another couple of things for the house, so some big expenses. I think a no spend month is in order to balance it a bit. What do you think?

Lastly, me and another money blogger have co-founded a Facebook group! It’s entitled Thrifty & Frugal Christmas and I’d love for you to join us over there! It’s all about doing Christmas on a budget. I know it seems a bit early as it’s only April. But, it’s about spreading out the cost over the year so it doesn’t end up being so pressured in December. I’m really enjoying being part of that 🙂

What about you? What have you been focusing on lately?

Don’t ever be afraid to do something, nothing ventured and nothing gained. It is scary doing something new and so public, but I bet you will be glad you did it when all is said and done. Good luck and go for it!

We are focusing on emptying our house ready for the tenants to take over and getting our boat ready to live on full time.

You are such a talented writer and I love to see where you have spotted beauty in your photos. Think of the number of people you are helping and could potentially help. By putting yourself out there you’re increasing those numbers and those people are all going to be so grateful to you for sharing your knowledge. This is your pep talk and new partner in crime talking. I’m willing to drag you kicking and screaming into the lime light but I don’t think you’ll kick and scream. Mostly because you are far too elegant and polite but also because it’s where you belong so you know it will feel comfy once you’re there x

Thank you – this is exactly what I need! Perhaps I need you on standby for every time I have a bit of a wobble!
