June 2017: A Month In Review

June 30, 2017

June seems to have passed by in a whirl wind. We finally got to share our news with everyone [thank you for your lovely comments!]. We also got started on our back garden which I’ve been wanting to do for ages. I went to a wedding of an old school friend and got to catch up with people I haven’t seen in years. It has seemed busy, but good. What I thought was going to be a quiet month hasn’t been at all!

Of course, with all these things going on, inevitably it has been more expensive than I had first thought. The garden in particular has cost more, partly due to the fact we needed to rent a bigger skip than I thought. Plus materials soon add up. I can’t wait until it’s finished though. It’ll be the perfect outside space for Frugal Baby to play this summer. I’ll share some pictures when it’s done šŸ™‚

My Financial aims for June were:

– HaveĀ 15Ā No Spend Days (NSDs)

– Overpay our mortgage by £50

– Put £1000Ā into savings

I was so close to my NSD aim this time. So close! But, with additional spends not planned for, I still didn’t hit my aim for this. I managed 14 NSDs in June. I think NSDs will be a write off this year, if I’m totally honest šŸ™ still, I will continue to plod along with them. The overpayment I have managed this month is almost laughable. It seems daft to even post! But, the whole point about this is that it makes me accountable. Ā£2.46 is what I managed! Better than nothing? šŸ˜‰ Finally, as in previous months, our savings are not where I want them to be. At the moment, with our income as it is, I think Ā£1,000 is just too much of a stretch goal for us šŸ™ I’ve managed to save Ā£621.08 this month.

Personal Aims For June:

– finish the bookĀ I’mĀ currently reading

– listĀ 10 thingsĀ onĀ ebay

– try and get into aĀ better night time routine

I did finish the book I’m reading and loved it! I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a new book to try. I’m now reading Pretty Girls, which I’m also really enjoying too šŸ™‚ I haven’t listed 10 things on ebay but I’ve sold a couple of big items on there this month so I’m happy about that. I have sold another thing, but the buyer hasn’t paid šŸ™ night time routine is still a work in progress, to be honest. I’m trying to get better, but I still find myself up later than I’d like to be!
