August Aims

August 1, 2020

Hello August! I can’t believe we are already into August. It feels like July has gone by really quickly; even though I stepped away from the blog a bit, I still had plenty going on behind the scenes. August tends to be an expensive month for us with birthdays and the summer holidays combined. I am hoping to have some family days out and some walk with a picnic. All the things that our boys like and that they will remember when they’re older.

One of the best things I did during July was to launch my first physical product – my budget planner! I uploaded a video to YouTube which walks through just what it has inside but I am so proud of it. The response has been so positive as well, so watch this space 🙂 I have a few more things in the pipeline but just taking it slowly for now. Make sure you check it out and favourite my shop!

Finally, before I get to my aims for the month ahead, I am still loving my YouTube channel. It is growing slowly and my message is getting out there. I just want to help people grow their confidence when it comes to their finances. It feels like it might be working! Again, I have lots of videos planned for the month ahead that I need to film and edit. Make sure you go over there and subscribe so you don’t miss them! One of my aims is to hit 2,000 subscribers so it would be great if you could help out.

My Financial aims for August are:

– Have 20 No Spend Days (NSDs)

– Overpay the mortgage by £185

– Put £700 into savings

Same as always; these should be easy to meet providing I don’t spend too much going out and with some family birthdays to contend with. It is all planned, so hopefully these will be easy to meet. I mentioned briefly in a video last week about how I need to up our emergency fund. Any spare cash I have at the moment, aside from money for our long term goals, shall be put into our emergency fund. Slow and steady wins the race!

My Personal Aims for August are:

– prepare for my first joint workshop (more on this soon!)

– enjoy some time with my boys

Another exciting thing that is happening very soon is that I am hosting a joint workshop with another personal finance blogger. We are currently ironing out the details but I am looking forward to this! It will be very different to my investing workshop but it will be good 🙂 Watch this space! And finally, just enjoy some time with my boys before things change again September. Providing there isn’t another lockdown, of course.

Here’s to August being great! What are your aims for the month? I’d love to hear them!
