July Aims

July 1, 2020

Hello July! It seems strange to be starting another month when there are so many uncertainties. But, I keep saying that I am trying to keep things as normal as I can, so here we are. I will be in work for a couple of days this month, but other than that I am still working from home. It’s not been straightforward with a two year old and a four year old but we’re making it work 🙂 I have also got a couple of things going on behind the scenes here at The Frugal Cottage so that’s keeping me busy on an evening. Excited about that bit!

I am holding my second How To Start Investing workshop this weekend which I am looking forward to. There are still some seats left if you want to join me. I don’t think I’ll do another one after this until the end of September/beginning of October. I need to focus my attention on something else in the meantime, so they will take a back seat until a bit later in the year. That being said, I am looking forward to teaching more people about the basics of investing so that they can start their own journey.

Another thing I am going to focus on during July, alongside everything else, is adding more things to my brand new Etsy shop. I am hoping to build this into another solid income source and have lots of things to add to this over the next few weeks. Feel free to have a browse and if you think of anything you would like added, let me know!

Finally, before I get to my aims for the month ahead, I am still loving my YouTube channel. It is growing slowly and my message is getting out there. I just want to help people grow their confidence when it comes to their finances. It feels like it might be working! Again, I have lots of videos planned for the month ahead that I need to film and edit. Make sure you go over there and subscribe so you don’t miss them!

My Financial aims for July are:

– Have 20 No Spend Days (NSDs)

– Overpay the mortgage by £185

– Put £700 into savings

Same as always; these should be easy to meet providing our jobs stay secure. Technically, with us both being key workers they should be. I mentioned briefly in a video last week about how I need to up our emergency fund. Any spare cash I have at the moment, aside from money for our long term goals, shall be put into our emergency fund. This has worked well during May and June so I am keeping it the same. Slow and steady wins the race!

My Personal Aims for July are:

– take each day as it comes

– make enquires with local companies about the NEXT THING.

Another month where it just needs to be taken day by day. There’s not much else to do at this stage! And I’m being a typical blogger being all vague but I want to check prices and things before I really commit to the next thing. If it works out too expensive as an initial outlay then I might need to save for a bit. But here’s hoping! Eeee 🙂

Here’s to surviving July! What are your aims for the month? I’d love to hear them!
