January Aims

January 2, 2020

Hello January! I love the start of a new year in terms of making aims and seeing what will lie ahead. It seems like there will be a world of possibilities. January is a quiet month for us, just the usual routine of work/school. So I’m hoping that it means it will be a good one in terms of our finances. If you haven’t seen already, I uploaded a new video on YouTube about our No Spend Year. I am excited and apprehensive about it in equal measure. January is the starting point of our No Spend Year, so it will set the tone for the following months.

That being said, I still need to think about how to organise things in the new year. I have some big goals to aim for this year – see here for that post – so I need to be on track from day 1. I am back to tracking expenses, NSDs and looking at various places to earn more. I didn’t track our budget for November or December and it showed in the end. I’m back on track. January is going to be back to basics month. It seems like a good time to start over!

My Financial aims for January are:

– Have 20 No Spend Days (NSDs)

– Overpay the mortgage by £185

– Put £700 into savings

I have upped my NSDs target for January; if I am do succeed in my No Spend Year then I need to get off to a strong start. If you’re a regular reader around here then you know that I have struggled with NSDs as of late. I intend this to change! My NSD tracker is set up and I am ready for it. As it’s a new year the mortgage overpayments are back. The usual amount here. Finally, my savings target is higher than it has been but I hope to meet it this month. Again, if I get on track then this should be achievable.

My Personal Aims for January are:

– get ahead with blog posts

– plan out YouTube content for the month

– be organised!

So, I say this every year and then don’t manage. But I would love to get ahead with blog posts. This will help in terms of organisation and thinking about what I want to post ahead of time. I have my new side hustle planner at the ready for this – I am hoping that a visual aid will help. The second one is also linked; to plan out my YouTube content for the month. If I could get ahead on filming that too, it would be fab. But, it takes a lot more time than I realised. So, we shall see. And being organised is always an aim! I might manage it one day 🙂

Here’s to January being great! What are your aims for the month? I’d love to hear them!

I want to sort my health and finances out – this isn’t so much a January thing as a whole year and then some! But the start (for both) is having a dry January which will save me money and help me lose weight!
