The Weekend Edition #21

November 16, 2014

As the weeks continue to fly by, work gets more and more busy in the run up to Christmas, I feel myself wishing that time would go just that bit slower. I have so much to do and not enough time! We have had yet more car issues this week as well, which are hopefully sorted now. It is so frustrating as it’s out of our control when something like that happens, which I find stressful to deal with.

We have got some more of our Christmas shopping done – I’ve now made a list of everything I want to get people, so it’s just a case of shopping around for the best deals and ordering or buying the products in town. I love choosing what to get people! There is so much choice, both online and in the shops, that with a bit of planning, Christmas presents shouldn’t be difficult to come by.

I have joined Pinterest this week, which I feel could become very addictive! I have spent quite a few hours on there this week, looking through different pictures and home inspiration photos. There are some very clever people doing lots of things – I’ve got a lot of craft ideas from there too and some Christmas things too!

5 things I’ve enjoyed/been grateful for this week:

1) Had my first mince pie this week! Yum.

2) I had the support of a colleague during a very difficult conversation which was much appreciated.

3) I’m continue to learn Debussy’s 1st Arabesque on the piano and I’m really enjoying the process.

4) I am loving The Missing on BBC One at the moment – is anyone else watching it?

5) I met a girlfriend for a hot chocolate in town yesterday which was nice; we tried a Christmas version which was very tasty.

5 blog posts I’ve enjoyed this week:

1) Cash Flow is Cash, But Better by Dividend Mantra. A post about cash flow and readily available cash. An interesting read.

2) Autumn in the Garden by Creative Countryside. A lovely, picture post which makes me feel excited that Autumn is here!

3) 10 Shockingly Expensive Thing We Own by Frugal Woods. I love this post! An honest look at expensive things they own, the Frugal Woods make this a great read.

4) How To Grocery Shop Like A Professional Personal Shopper by Canadian Budget Binder. I wish I could go grocery shopping for someone else and get paid for it! Definitely gives me something to think about.

5) Moments Like This Make Blogging Worth It by Luke 1428. A lovely post about what makes a blogger smile.

And, in case you’ve missed them, these are the topics I’ve posted about this week:

– How To Survive Christmas On A Budget, Part One – a post full of hints and tips to survive Christmas on a budget.

– Foodie Friday: Homemade Chicken Stock [Slow Cooker] – a very straightforward recipe for homemade chicken stock.

What have you enjoyed reading this week? Any plans for the week ahead? I’d love to hear about it!

Yes there is so much to do on the run up to Christmas . Mince pies, Christmas cake. I have already begun making my cake lots of lemon zesty, nuts and lashings of brandy. Then I plan to add marzipan and ice the cake with little lumpy bits and holly bits and a robin to create the effect of a nice wintery country scene. I will have to probably go and get these from the store as I can’t find anything in my drawers. Anyway I am loving all the preparation. I hope it turns out well.

    Nicola,

Ahh, Christmas. It’s coming up, isn’t it? Always a nice time of year. I used to love Christmas when I lived in Michigan. Cold weather and snow just put you in the festive mood. It’s a bit different now in tropical Florida.

Sounds like you’re having fun over there with the hot chocolate and gift shopping. 🙂

Appreciate the mention. Hope you’re having a relaxing Sunday!

    Best regards.

I am so looking forward to Christmas! I agree, much to be done, but I enjoy all of the preparation almost as much as the actual holiday itself. I’m just a sucker for anything festive :). Thank you so much for including my post–I really appreciate it!
